Magnolia x soulangeana - Crown reduction, crown lift and thinning

What usually makes this tree stand out is it's 'fiery' canopy of uneven shoots and branches. This one however, close to it's peak in growth had been encouraged to adopt a more lollipop appearence.

The client has been consistently pruning the tree but wanted it trimmed it in a way that would slow its growth whilst reducing it in size and retaining its shape.

We removed the longest and thickest spreading branches from the canopy as well as the water shoots helped achieve a balance between 'fiery' and the 'lollipop' shape the client was keen on.
